"ALEBRIJES"
"Alebrijes" are hand-carved and painted imaginative figures found primarily in the southern
Mexican state of Oaxaca (pronounced "wa-
ha-ka").   Alebrijes are strange figures of dreams or
fantasies painted in astonishing colors.  They are highly collectible, one-of-a-kind creatures.

SMALL DRAGON ALEBRIJE facing 4
o'clock,  measures 36" long, 26"
from wing-tip to wing-tip, and 23"
high.  Dragon has removable
wings, and the eagle atop its head
is also removable.  Carved and
signed by a Oaxacan artist, this is a
particularly fine example of
alebrije folk art.  Photos below

LARGE (CHILD-SIZE) DRAGON
ALEBRIJE measures approximately
4' high, 4' long and 3' across.  It is
finely balanced with many
removable parts, including
leg-spurs, wings, ears, nostril
spur, and  flame-tongue.  It is a
one-of-a-kind, museum-quality
piece carved and signed by an
internationally known Oaxacan
artist.
